Over the next 20 years, Administrator Gina McCarthy (former EPA chief) estimates that our country will need more than $655 billion for drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The scariest part is that this massive investment doesn’t even cover the lead pipes that resulted in the Flint, MI situation. The longer Congress waits to address this issue, the worse our infrastructure situation will become. After all, water infrastructure is an issue we can no longer afford to ignore.
