New N.A.W. Legal Advisory

The National Labor Relations Board has been very busy, issuing long-awaited final rules and decisions. One of those decisions, Purple Communications Inc., could have a serious impact on any employer who allows employees to use the company’s email system. The Board decision reverses prior Board decisions, and will require those employers – whether or not they have a unionized workforce – to allow employees who use the email system for work purposes to also use the employer’s email system during non-work time to engage in union organizing and otherwise communicate about wages, hours and other workplace issues.
